Dianne Montgomery

Tap


Dianne Montgomery has over 15 years of tap dancing experience. She has worked and studied in both the United States and Canada.  She studied in New York for two years with Barbara Duffy, a founding member of The American Tap Dance Orchestra. She received further instruction from and has been influenced by Paula Skimin, Marion Hopkins, Jason Samuels Smith, Lynn Schwab, Michelle Dorrance, Derick Grant, Dianne Walker, Margaret Morrison, Jimmy Tate, Josh Hilberman, Omar Edwards and Andrew Nemr.

In 2001, she moved to Toronto, where she performed with tap companies Turn On the Tap and TO Tap. She has worked in jazz clubs with musicians Alex Pangman and Kevin Clark as an improvising soloist.

In 2006/07, Dianne toured with Canadian singer-songwriter Feist, and was featured in a tap number in shows throughout the US and Canada.

Dianne’s own style is rhythm based. She likes to teach in a positive, supportive atmosphere that fosters musicality and self-expression. She currently teaches privately and at City Dance Corps in Toronto.
