POWER, COMPLEXITY, PASSION

This highly complex, sensual and passionate art form is a dance style like no other. The Argentine Tango is a 'non-verbal' dance embodying a high degree of consciousness. This style is danced with a partner in an embrace that can vary from open to closed, in which the leader and follower connect at arm’s length or chest-to-chest.

Our Argentine Tango program is under the direction of City Dance Corps' Executive Director and Co-Founder Estelle Nicol, who has trained extensively in Buenos Aires, the birthplace of Tango, under some of the world’s most renowned dancers and instructors. She teaches a combination of traditional and nuevo tango techniques with an emphasis on body awareness, musicality, and improvisation.

Estelle has been recognized for creating a Tango movement in Toronto exposing this beautiful dance form to a younger generation.
